After install, hang on boot

I installed the most recent version of Astaro on a machine I intend to use as a firewall; the installation went well, but when I try to reboot and do the web browser config, all I get is...

And there it hangs.  I don't know /too/ much about Linux, but shouldn't that be something about a LILO boot at that point?  What could make it hang like that?

I read over some other topics and, based on that information, attacked BIOS (disabling IRQs for VGA and USB, disabling all integrated com/lpt ports, disabling onboard multimedia and setting pio mode to auto) and reinstalled, but I still get the same thing.

This is kind of a time-critical thing; I need to prove that Astaro can do the job, or someone's going to blow a whole lot of money on a PIX.  

Anyone have any hints for me?

p.s. Incidentally, the machine is a pII-350, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB HDD, two Intel Etherexpress NICs (which are picked up fine during installation) in case that helps.

    Forgot to mention, this isn't for commercial use, it's for a small (3 kids) classroom.  That does't require a license purchase, does it?

    Hi,
    You are right, this should read LILO.
    This error is most likely caused by an incorrect installation of the boot loader; if you don't use exotic hardware (harddisk, mainboard), I would suggest you to try and burn another ASL CD. Please check the ASL-burn-FAQ.
    If that doesn't work out and you tested it on another machine where it works, you burned a pile of cds etc, please check back and report detailed information of your hardware.

    Hello Arioch and Andreas,

    I disagree with andreas, it seems to be related
    to the BIOS settings for the harddrive, set it
    to normal - not LBA or Auto and it should work!
