Can I use Astaro with only a dynamic IP address from the ISP?

I have installed Astaro before as the firewall on a home network where the ISP for the ADSL service gave me a static IP address.  No problem, it all worked great.

Now I would like to use Astaro on another home network where the Cable company assigns only dynamic IP addresses to the customer, leases expiring every 24-48 hours.  Can this be done?  If so, when I configure the system, what would I put in the "Network/Interfaces/Local host" section for Default Gateway?  I would not have a static IP address to put there like I did the first time.

Thanks for your help.  If this works, I'll use Astaro version 3 for the second home network.

    I forgot to say -- I would also not know what to put in the "Network/Interfaces/Network Card N" section for the IP address of the NIC connnected to the external portion of the network.  

    Both pieces of info, the Default Gateway and the External IP Address are provided by an ISP when they give you a static IP address.  But when you have only a dynamic IP address, what do you do?  Can you just type "DHCP" into the IP address fields and let ASL discover that information and handle the updates as it changes?  

    It is my hope that having only a dynamic IP address won't prevent me from being able to use ASL.

    Which version of Astaro are you using?  

    Version 3.0.. supports dynamic IP on the External nic.  You just have to configure Address, Netmask and D_Gateway to us dynamic IP on external card. The update is done automatically.

    The Internal card should have a fixed IP (i.e 192.162.2.100)and netmask (255.255.255.0), but the D_Gateway should be left empty.

    Thanks so much, "ao"!

    This is good news.  I had used ASL 2 on the earlier setup with static IP address from the ISP, but was planning on downloading ASL 3 for this next, seperate, install if ASL 3 handled dynamic IP from the ISP.  You say it does, so I shall begin download as soon as I finish this note.

    By the way, that is a neat little graphic you have next to your name on here -- I like it!
