I am to the point of quitting. After 5 hours of work, I am completely stuck and frustrated.
I have the latest astaro iso installed on a duron 900, 512 mb ram machine. I have a linksys 10/100 as the eth0 acting as 192.168.2.100. I can log into webAdmin and can tweak all kinds of stuff, which really gets my hopes up.
The problem is I can not get eth1, an Intel 10/100 to contact the cox network. I first tried to static the ip to the ip I had been issued from cox with all the settings. This showed the connection as 'up' but after enableing ICMP to run ping or tracert, I can not ping the gateway. If I set eth1 to get its ip, subnet, and gateway dynamically from dhcp, it just stays 'down'.
I have swapped ethernet cards, and reinstalled muliple times, the eth0 always works and the eth1 never does. I have tried power cycling my cable modem to no avail multiple time. I have swapped cat-5 cables to no avail. If I could at least ping from the astaro box to the external gateway, I would be so happy.
I have a vlan on an smc switch, ports 1-6 on group 1 and ports 7-8 on group 2. 1-6 are for local machines, and eth0, so any machine on the private network can see the webAdmin tool. Port 7 is eth1, the intel card, and port 8 is the uplink to the cable modem.
I have swapped multiple machines on port 7, just to make sure dhcp was coming in from cox, however the eth1 just wont pick up an address, and it will not work if I do a static address.
I have an unregistered version of 3.2. If I can get this working and feel comfortable with it, I would be willing to roll it out to the comany I work for. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!
