had this a couple of weeks ago: Firewall is up but no connection possible and "no ip address on ethx".
The reason was, that I had misconfigured the ipsec configuration (think it was something with the identifier in the local or the remote key)and the ASL allowed me to save the configuration.
You can deactivate the ipsec connections on the console (the only way to reach the box): in /etc/wfe/conf/ipsecconnections in the [Global] section change the value of status to 0 and restart the ASL. The Firewall should function properly again and you can search for the reason of the misconfiguration of the ipsec-connection.
