Hang during Hardware Detection

Hi, I'm trying to install 3.207 and it completely hangs during "Hardware is now being detected".

Pentium MMX 200MHz machine
Vextrec GMB-P57IPS V0 motherboard, 1.10 bios
Intel TX Chipset

64MB RAM

We've tried several different NICs, and also with no NICs.

Once it hangs, ALT-F2, ... no longer work.

Hard drive is Maxtor 4GB, tried LBA and normal. CD is Creative 32x on secondary master.

Also tried 3.200 CD and 3.050 beta CD. All hang during hw detect.

System was previously (today) running as a RedHat 7.2 server with no problems.

    1.10 is what I have loaded, and is also the latest one I could find online (Vextrec is out of business in the U.S., but I found some other web sites for it).

    I had the same problem installing on my K2-225 system. Just hangs that and locks the keyboard (the num lock led does not responds after that).

    I am new to ASL. But Sentry Firewall works well for me. Just a bootable CD and a config floppy.
    I see ASL as a very good alternative but am pretty disappointed at this moment. Tried disable almost everything on bios, removed partitions, trie both LBA and Normal mode. It just hangs there with no way of debuging what happened.
    I use a AOpen AP5T.

    Anyone knows whats happening?

    Yep, that sounds like what's happening to us.

    BTW, we were able to install 2.x and do the 3.x migration successfully, and 3.x is now working fine.

    Must just be some quirk with the hardware detection on the 3.x CD.

    I wasn't able to find a newer BIOS for our board; did you try for yours?

    Hi!
    I think I found what is the cause. It seems that on my particular PC, it just cant detect my C drive no matter what! But Redhat 7.3 installs quite wellon the system. Can anyone help?

    I all,
    try to impost the BIOS on default setting than 
    put all the 4 IDE ports as "normal" disabling all 
    the things that ASL doesn't need and install 
    at not high Cd-ROM speed.

    Thanks for the advice.Tried that but didnt work! V2 did get installed. Now I am trying 3.207 instead of 3.209 and see what happens.

    Hi all!!

    Got it working. The problem seems to be the hardware detection in this version does not seem to be stable with all hardware.

    Workaround:

    I installed it on the hard disk using another system (I used a newer machine, Duron). Once completed, I move it back to my old PC and it worked well. I'll cntinue to play with it now.
