Upgrading 2.027 to 3.207

Two PCs.

Identical except the 3.207 PC has a different version of 905b 3COM NICs.

Backed up the 2.027 PC.

Restored this backup to the 3.207 PC.

I can ping all the NIC addresses from the internal network but no traffic(i.e. http, smtp...) flows.

Please, let me know if you have any suggestions.

I do not have much experience in Linux, Unix.... so please spell things out for me if you can.

    ok.. some ideas..

    - I suppose you replaced the 2.x with the 3.x for your testing. If not, check default gateway on your client.

    - Ping nexthop, e.g. router behind firewall. Success? No? Pinged a name or an IP? Try IP of a known host. Success?

    - Watch packetfilter livelog while pinging. Drops?
      No? Try http access and watch again.

    - Watch Reporting->Network for received/transmitted packets/errors. (you'll have to reload the page) while generating traffic.

    - Login to your firewall as root and ping a name/known good IP from the internet. Success?
