Post-Install: 'ping's are unsucessful !

After installing version 3.202 onto a K6/300 PC (ASUS m/b and only 1 NIC, just to make sure), the OS boots correctly and shows the 'login:' prompt with the IP address above it. No error messages are issued.

The NIC is active (blinking treffic LEDS), but any ping of the firewall's IP address from another PC in the LAN is unsuccessful (no reply). I already installed several times to guarantee the correct IP/subnet/gateway definitions during the installation.

What can be wrong? Is there a way to narrow the problem by logging in locally (webadmin cannot be used because of the network problem) and view the logs?

    Actually that is correct behaviour.  By default the firewall does not accept ICMP packets (pings).  You can enable this through the webadmin Packet Filter->ICMP->ICMP on Firewall.  however you generally best to leave this option disabled unless you are debugging stuff.
