eth0 loosing its IP-Adress

Problem:
Console tells me every 30 sec, that there is no IP-Adress on eth0. Some seconds later it comes back. During that time I cannot connect the Firewall. This happens only when the WAN-Interface is "up".  [:S]  

Configuration:
Vers. 3.202 
eth0 : 3C905 C-TX (LAN)
eth1 : 3C905 (TDSL-WAN)

    Ja, I stumbled over the same problem, when I installed asl 3.2020 (?) on saturday. But for me it happened right after install, the T-DSL-links wasn't configured at that time.. My first thought was, that asl doesn't like my nics (1x intel EEPro PCI, 1x intel EEPro onboard). Didn't know how to solve it, so I installed OpenBSD again from scratch. Reboot didn't helped either.
    Today I installed it on a 'spare'-pc, with only one EEpro-nic.. no problems with disapearing ip-addres on eth0..

    Hardware:
    FuSi D1219-board
    celeron 700MHz CPU
    Samsung SV2042H HDD
    nics:
    fxp0 at pci1 dev 7 function 0 "Intel 82557" rev 0x08: irq 9, address 00:02:b3:20:02:8c
    inphy0 at fxp0 phy 1: i82555 10/100 media interface, rev. 4
    fxp1 at pci1 dev 8 function 0 "Intel 82562" rev 0x01: irq 11, address 00:30:05:07:fe:a7
    inphy1 at fxp1 phy 1: i82562EM 10/100 media interface, rev. 0

    any ideas? ;-)

    to  whom it concerns:
    delete all entries in the "QoS"-Section of the DSL-Interface, that's all !

    I am having the same problem and neither of the NIC's are using QOS. As soon as I configure the second card, eth0 goes down and doesn't come back. It doesn't matter which card I use for eth0 or eth1, same problem. One card is an SMC and the other is a 3Com.

    Been playing with this trying to get somewhere, and at one point was ready to throw it all out the window.      Here is a rundown on what I have: 

    I have basically two networks setup, I'll call them "network 1" and "network 2". 

    "Network 1" consists of two w2k machines and a win98 machine. This network is plugged into a netgear router/hub that plugged into a cable modem. The netgear router/hub is providing dhcp to "network 1". 

    The gateway address for "network 1" is 192.168.1.1 and the dhcp scope is 192.168.1.50 through .254.

    "Network 2" consists of the Astaro box and a w2k workstation. The astaro box has two cards in it,  an SMC and a 3Com. 
    One card (ip 172.16.1.9)is plugged into the netgear router/hub for internet access. 

    The other nic is plugged into a completely separate hub. 

    The ip address of the second nic is 172.16.1.10. I have the w2k workstation (ip 172.16.1.5) plugged into the separate hub also. there are no other network connections. 

    When I configure the second card (external) the internal card goes away. can't ping, can't run web admin, etc.   [:S]  

    Here is the error message:

    I think you have a Subnetting problem.
    You can not give both ASL NIC an IP-Address of the same subnet. You MUST separate the Subnets.

    to bobatbluwire:

    I don't understand why you connect physicaly your network in this way. Put in a third NIC in your ASL-Box.
    1st Network on eth0: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 with your three PC's currently connected to your Router/Hub.
    2cond Network on eth1: your CableModem with DHCP-Client enabled on eth1.
    3rd Network on eth2: 172.16.1.0/255.255.255.0 with your w2k pc.

    to Janea:
    have you probably connected all your ASL NIC's (Network cards) to the same Hub/Switch? If yes this is your Problem...

    yep, that was the problem. I was connecting both nics to the same subnet. I changed the external one to 192.168.1.10 and it's working fine. Thanks
