eth0 not coming up HELP!!!!

I have installed ASL and it shows both NIC cards during install. I have checked that both cards are supported. When the system boots, it shows the correct address for the chosen card for internal access above the login but when I login, eth0 is not initialized. I have tried rebooting a dozen times and no luck.

What am I doing wrong? I really want to use this firewall but I can't.

Update:

The /var/log/kernel file has an odd entry. Immediately following the pci probe, it comes up
and says "Unknown bridge resource 0: Assuming transparent

It also says the same thing for resourse 1 and resource 2.

which driver is loaded (/etc/modules.conf)
