Reboot

Hello!

I have installed a Astaro 2.0 firewall in january(w/ an unlimited licence) , that ran correctly until last month.
It suddenly shut down last month for an unknown reason. After rebooting it, the PC shut down each 5 minutes. I took a look at the system...
I found the superdaemon stopped the computer, but I don't known really why.

The mail partition of the hard disk was full! Is this the very cause?
It seems the built-in mail server tried to send warning mails that bounced. For each bounced mail, the server tried infinitely to send a mail to warn me of a bounce. [:O]

Is that behavior correct?
And can the full partition make the server stopped?!?

sounds like you didn't up2date, the mail bounce problem with qmail was fixed i think in 2.022 or so.

My system was up-to-date...
The 2GB partition was filled with mails within a day! And I cannot find why it suddently tried to send me mails.

2 Gig is kind of small. I'm running on 2.5 and It's only doing packet filtering. I've got a 4.? gig SCSI drive lying aroung I'm going to install instead. This begs the question... How do you check the freespace on your partitions in ASL/Linux?

Hi Everyone,

df -h will show the free/used space on the partitions. I had a similar problem to this, have you allowed your DNS servers to portscan? On my firewall DNS requests were considered portscans and so it sent me loads of emails saying so, this eventually filled the partition. It is very annoying that the firewall reboots when a partition fills up, a warning is sent when the partition is 90% full, it will when shutdown when 95% is used.
