[ERR 003] No space left for System Up2date

I am getting the following notification each evening from my Astaro firewall:

[ERR 003] No space left for System Up2date

I am running Astaro on a PC, not an appliance. There is an 8GB disk in the PC and I have checked over all of the partitions. There doesn't seem to be an issue of free space. The only one that is showing as being close to capacity is /var/recovery. It is at 98% of capacity. I am not familiar with this partition and the appropriate method to free up space on it. Could someone provide me with some direction? Thanks!

Which files take the space? What you can do is, in the incomming dir, there are all the Up2Date packages, you should be able to delete old ones...

I looked in the /var/recovery/incoming folder and found several tarballs in there that I cleaned out. The update worked fine last night. My question now is, how do I prevent this from happening again?
