v3.2 and HD LBA mode

Yup, there have been several postings on here about it (a couple from me). 

It seems - although no confirmation from Astaro - that LBA and the "reiserfs" file system are mutually incompatible.

    I discovered when install Astaro 3.2 after the install and when I rebooted the machine locked after it began to echo "LILO" it stopped at "LI".  However this was fixed when I set the HD mode to "NORMAL" from "AUTO" in the BIOS.  Note IDE HD.  I ran v2.x on this drive in "AUTO" with no issues.  Why in v3.2 did this change?  Have other users seen similiar issues?
