ASL 3.2 losing connection

Hi!

I am using ASL 3.2 with three NICs on a P2 300MHz/64MB/6GB at home. 

When installation and initial configuration is complete, everything looks nice. I can access the Internet and my rules seems to work.

Unfortuantely ASL seems to lose connection to the Internet at random and I cannot re-establish the connection again. If I re-install ASL the connection is back online, however after a day or two, the connection is lost again.

I am connected to a 10Mbps network with static IP. When the connection is lost, I cannot ping my gateway, however, I can ping my Intranet without any problems.

The NICs are:
eth0 D-Link DFE500TX connected to a hub at my Intranet (Two computers running Linux and Windows). 

eth1 RTL8139B currently not connected, but intended for DMZ

eth2 D-link DFE528 (RTL8029) connectiong ASL box to the Internet

IP:
eth0 192.168.2.1
eth1 192.168.3.1
eth2 130.239.xxx.xxx

Anyone with a similar problem, or better, a solution?

    Does the interfaces share the same physical
    network segment ?
    Or there's any ip on the external and/or the internal segment that doesn't belong to the network ?

    Try this cable layout (if you've not already done it) :

    internet_router -> cross cable -> Astaro_ext_eth
    Astaro_int_eth -> hub -> lan

    Check for no "foreing" IP on the segments.

    Let us know.

    I don't think there is a cable layout problem, nor an IP conflict because everything works just fine for a period of time. When I first installed ASL it worked a few hours. The second installation worked for six days before the connection was lost.

    I am pretty new to ASL (and Linux) and I do not really know how to trace the error (maybe in a log-file? Executing a command as root?).

    Actually, the only thing I know is that 

    (1) When ASL loses the connection, I cannot ping the internet router, but I can ping my own network. I can also ping the ASL box from my own network -> my network works fine. 

    (2) When the connection is not lost, I can ping the Internet router from the ASL box.

    (3) If I connect one of my local machines directly to the Internet (not running through the half dead ASL box) the networks works fine -> The problem is not at my ISP.

    (1) && (2) && (3) -> Something is wrong with the ASL box.

    This is my network layout.
    Internet router -> straight TP -> ASL eth2 IP 130.239.xxx.yyy

    ASL eth0 (IP 192.168.2.1) -> straight TP -> hub.
    hub -> straight TP -> Win box (IP 192.168.2.100)
    hub -> straight TP -> Linux box (IP 192.168.2.101)

    ASL eth1 (IP 192.168.3.1) -> straight TP -> Webserver-some-time (not connected yet).

    I don't know if this was an answer to your question, please don't hesitate to ask more.

    What happens if you use the tools included on the ASL box. Can ASl ping the outside world?

    If it can - I have the same problem and I haven't got to the bottom of it yet....

    Hello,

    I agree with emgadmin, please check the
    kernel log in WebAdmin:LOG FILES/KERNEL.
    The magic word is SPOOF, if you find it you
    have a cabling problem!
    You can also check, if there are any NIC driver
    errors reported!

    I've exchanged the D-link 528 for a 3Com card now. I'll let you know if it works for more than 2weeks.

    Changing card solved the problem.
