using backupfile 2.022 for asl 3.2 ?

Hi, 

we have a box running ASL 2.022 an everything fine. But now, i want to use ASL 3.2.
I want to keep my former configuration with the new ASL. So is it possible to use a ASL 2.022 Backupfile(3 eth's) with the ASL 3.2, even if i add a 4th eth? 
or do i have to perform a new ruleset setup?

    I tried to import configuration of 2.x to 3.x and i noticed that in mangled all the names i defined in all lists (networks, network groups, services, VPN).

    Names like 'VPNGW: Local' became 'VPNGW_53_Local' (or something similar.

    I installed 3.2, and restored from a 2.5 backup and got the same thing. From what I gather, the _46_(what I get) in 192_46_168_46_... represents the "." in the naming convention. my names were just ips (192.168.x.x), and the is how the restore to the new version treated it. I am going to try to log in to my 2.5 box and change the names from numbers to letters and see if it makes a difference. I also noticed that after the restore, all of my old entries were labled as static, not allowing me to edit them. Any suggestions??
