ping wont work

Hi, dont know why but I have serious problems with my german T-DSL connection. The interface eth1 is up and running and I can see a remote  public IP adress is assigned but I still cant ping the world even though ICMP on Firewall is activated! Anyone with a helpful suggestion? Thank you very much!

    Have you tried pinging from the Network -> Tools menu?

    To ping through the firewall from a workstation you need to MASQ your internal network to your external NIC/ADSL and then allow rules through for ICMP (or anything else)

    thanks for that, but i figured the problem is even worse....my dsl connection comes up after installation and stays online for 5 mins after that it shuts down automatically but looks still up under network/interfaces. the problem is that it doesnt reconnect even if i delete the interface and install it new. 
    nevertheless in the first 5 minutes i had access from my internal network via the squid http proxy. everything worked fine but after 5 minutes it shuts down never comes up again and thats why ping doesnt work! anyone got a clue on that? i would be very thankful! by the way its a german t-dsl connection with non static ip address....cheers

    You are not the only one with problems using pppoe... it shuts down, and no way to bring it up again, there are many threads about that, like this one :  http://www.astaro.org/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=000473  and this one:
