Backup File format

Greetings. Thanks for the swift replies on the previous query. Removing the ROMB card and using the SCSI backplane for now. And, I can verify that the gigabit ethernet cards (Intel 82544EI chipset) definitely work with Astaro 3.2  [:)] 

I have a backup from a copy of Astaro 2.016, and I wish to import it into Astaro 3.2. There's quite a lot of stuff in it. Is there a converter out there, for 2.x backup file to 3.x backup file formats? Is there a specification for the backup file format, so someone (perhaps even myself if I get time  [:)] ) can write a converter?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    this is quoted from the Announcement of 3.2:

    there is the possibility to import 2.025 backups in 3.2.
