Does ASL really need > 300 MHz ?
I would really like to install this software, but my specs are 133mhz, and ~50 ram.

Won't it run at all?

    2.x works fine on a P166 w/ 32MB for me at home.

    I couldn't get 3.x to install on another machine with 32MB though; it died when trying to create a RamDisk during install.
    Upgrading to 48MB worked.

    For home use, it should work fine.
