Install Problems (can't find hard drive)

I keep getting the error at step 4 of the installation where it says that there was no hard drive detected. I spent hours last night trying different things and reading other messages here in the bulletin board. I have run fdisk at the bash shell and deleted all partitions and re-created one main partition that is about 6 gig. Can someone help me figure out how to get this software installed. I only hope that the software is better than the installation. The message that I'm getting about try installing the software on a compatible system doesn't quite work for me. This system meets all the requirements that are stated on this site and in the install manual.
Please help. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to post the version you are trying to install, and your full system specs before we can help any further.

The version is 2.016 I guess. It's the version that is available from the downloads section of the website. I only seen one version available for download.

The system is a Intel Pentium II with 256 meg. of memory and a Western Digital 6 gig drive. It has two 3Com 10/100 ethernet cards.

Version 2.023 is the latest and greatest "production quality" version - it's worth grabbing that before proceding.

Also, is the HD an IDE or SCSI? Is it an on-board or PCI controller? What vendor/chipset is the mobo and/or HD card?
