ADSL PCI cards

Hi all,
New to the board, new to Astaro. I am looking to install ADSL at home, and would like to use Astaro to provide NAT, firewall etc. however, rather than fork out for an expensive ADSL router I would like to use an ADSL PCI modem. I have found one that has Linux drivers, but will Astaro allow me to install them? After reading several other forums it would seem that a certain amount of complilation is required to get the kernel to recognise the device. Is this going to be a problem with Astaro?

    If the drivers for the PCI card are binary-only, and are built to be compatible with the version of the Linux kernel ASL uses (don't know which one OTTOMH), then the drivers can be added - but it's a very manual process, and not recommended for those unfamiliar with Linux.

    It is not possible to compile source-code on a standard ASL installation - this would be something of a security hazard. However, one of the ASL developers has created an unsupported add-on that includes sufficient extras to do so... but you'd still then have to install the driver you've built.

    In either case, the ASL Hackers forum is the best place for such discussion.
