Question on Installation

I am planning to install astaro for home us. I presently have small LAN using cable modem for internet connection.  I do not have any public IP from my provider, the only thing I have is DNS information.  I am actually connecting to the internet using dynamic IP address provided by my provider.  

So my question is, since I do not have any fixed public IP how do I configure the externa NIC.

    use version 3, and configure the external interface to use dhcp do get ip address.

    add the dns server ip to the dns proxy > forwarders

    add a packetfilter rule to allow outbound traffic

    masquerade traffic on the external interface

    and you should be set

    I have been able to install astaro 3.0 successfully but need some help relating to DHCP.

    The firewall was setup to obtain IP dynamically from the ISP on the external NIC, while the internal NIC was setup with the default settings.  I also enable DHCP on the internal network object so that the Astaro can assign IP addresse to internal clients. 

    The problem I am facing now is that I can not ping the firewall eventhough the clients were able to obtain dynamic IP address successfully from it. The dynamically assigned IP, netmask and gateway seems to be correct. I always have to configure a client with a fixed IP address for pinging to work.

    The other question is, is there any way to configure whithin Astaro, the range of dynamic IPs to be assigned to clients. For example, I will like the DHCP Server within Astaro to assign the IPs 192.168.2.150 - 192.168.2.200 to internal clients.

    Finally, is there any advantange is using the "Static Mapping" option within DHCP Server menu.
