Will the 3com 3c996B-T Gigabit NIC be supported by Astaro

Hello,

The 3com Gigabit NICs are not supported (yet). I suggest to use SysKonnect cards, they were tested with ASL and works well.

we have now 2 Syskonnekt SK9821 SK-NET GE-T GigaBit Server Cards.

But they will not be detected by Astaro 2.22 or 3.031.

Any suggestions ? (My Chief would fire me if i tell that are also not the right NICs for Astaro ;-) )

I'm going to test some SMC gigabit cards (both cat5E and Fiber) i'll post my findings if anyone is interested. The cards are rather cheap, abt, $60.

don't worry syskonnect works but they cannot be
detect during setup. I suggest just to install
another detectable networkcard for the installation.

Now enter console as user root:
 

If you get an error check
/lib/modules/2.4.17-asl-0.020213.0/kernel/drivers/net/
or the approppiate directory in version 2.

In the beta the driver can be found in a subdirectory called "sk98lin" and has to be copied
up to the modules directory.

To make it persistent edit /etc/modules.conf.

Reboot the machine and if your cards are detected
you can remove the not needed NIC.

I'm working now on SysKonnect autodetection. It will be present in one of the next beta releases.
