Difficulty configuring ASL with MS Exchange 2000

If someone could help me. I've done a few searches on the board and have found some information but not enough.

I have ASL setup with three interfaces. eth0 is my internal network (CITIES), 10.1.1.0 net maks 255.255.255.0. eth1 is my ISP which I have named WAN_141. My ISP gave me four public IPs AAA.BBB.CCC.138 to 141 net mask 255.255.255.0. I originally aliased all four IPs to eth1. Finally, eth2 is my DMZ composed of one host which is my webserver 10.1.2.100 net mask 255.255.255.255. I also set it up as a network object to DNAT too.

The intial setup was incredibly fast. In less than 45 mintues I was ASL installed and surfing the net. 

Unfortunately, I am on my 8th hour on trying to get my webserver and mail server working properly. After figuring out DNAT 10.1.2.100 -> eth1, I can access my webserver but I can't connect via IMAP to the Exchange side of the server. Also, SMTP doesn't appear to be working since emails from my Yahoo account to my Exchange server are not being received. I tried SMTP, etc. but just can't get it to work.

Finally, in an act of desperation, I bought a hub and moved my webserver back on my ISP connection using its original IP of AAA.BBB.CCC.138. I can ping it from other ISPs, but I can't see it from my CITIES network. I'm fairly certain it's a routing issue, but I lack the knowledge of correcting it.

    --> a netmask of 255.255.255.252 would be correct

    --> .138 is your network address, .141 is the broadcast address; both of them you cannot use for devices connected to your network; .139 may be the IP address of your router/cable modem and .140 would be the address of your ASL box (external); .139 would also be the default gateway of your asl box

    Michael,

    Thank you again for the feedback. I did make an error though in my first posting. Originally, I had all 4 IPs aliased to eth1, but in frustration, I removed the AAA.BBB.CCC.138 from the alias list and reassigned it to my Exchange server which I moved to my ISP network.

    It now looks something like this:

          ISP/INTERNET

      ASL eth1       MS Exchange Server
    AAA.BBB.CCC.141  AAA.BBB.CCC.138
    Alias       140
    Alias       139 

    ASL eth0 "CITIES"
    10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0

    Any workstation from the CITIES network can not PING the MS Exchange Server. I think it's a routing problem.

    I originally had the Exchange Server in my DMZ (eth2) but I could not make it work even with:

    ANY to ANY with all ports (0:65555?) open.

    Have you created a rule to allow port 25 for SMTP to pass through ASL to your mail server.

    You will also need port 110 if you want POP3 available and Port 80 to use OWA.

    These are defined as services so you will not need to create them but may want to put them in a services group.
