Mounting CDROM As Root

I would like to try mounting a CD with squidguard on a test firewall. What I have discovered so far is that there was no symbolic link for /dev/cdrom, which I tried creating using
ln -s /dev/hdb1 /dev/cdrom
I then tried a mount of a cd burned with Nero on a WinNT box with the squidguard gzip. I keep getting an error with file type. Is there any reason I couldn't do this? What format of the mount should I use for a CD burned on a Microsoft OS?

hi rodd,

you will not be able to mount a cdrom or a floppy on the asl box - use scp instead to copy files to your firewall.
(i suppose that there is no kernel support for msdos and iso9960 file system types.)

When you get the squidguard loaded lets us know. I am going to start loading squidguard in few days. I would like to know what problems you run into. What verison of Astaro are you using?
