After Install - 01010101010101010101

I have installed V2 and after rebooting all I get is a screen of scrolling 01's. Can't ping the machine, nothing. There were no errors in the install and the hardware is more than sufficient (PIII 600, 512 MB RAM, 8 GB HDD, 3 - 3C905C NIC).
Any ideas?

    As far as I know, this is typically a problem with the boot loader.  At one time it was a big problem with large IDE hard disks, old BIOS & LILO (standard Linux boot loader).

    I had the same problem with a 40GB IDE hard disk in a P-IV, and needless to say, I didn't expect to have the problem with a modern Linux system and a new PC.  I wound up using an !OLD!  3GB disk and all is well.  

    I won't seriously consider buying the product unless I can install it on any size hard disk.

    If this is truly a problem with "large" hard drives then, you're right the product isn't really worth paying for. I have successfully installed Astaro before but it was on a system with a 2GB drive. How many machines come with this size hard drive any more? I thought my 8GB drive was small.
    Is there someone from Astaro that can confirm this?

    I have succesfully installed ASL on two systems using Maxtor 20G drives and 1 system using a Qquantum 40G drive.

    I had the bios setting to autodetect the drive and normal not LBA on the drive mode.

    I did see once that some version of UNIX rquire Normal not LBA.

    I have seen exactly the same issue with big (40GB) and small (4GB) harddiscs. My sollution fo r this problem has always been the reasing of all partitions on the hd before starting the ASL installation.

    I had the same problem. LILO tried to start up and the only thing I saw was L01 L01......
    The first L in LILO checks Hardware configuration.
    First thougt that my MBR was damaged but after many try outs ( installation/AWARDBIOS/ in LBA, Normal....BIOS UPDATE ....) I saw that my jumpers (HD ---> Primary Master....) wasn't set up correctly. 
    Maybe....Now it works fine...

    Thank-you all for your help. Since this machine has been running RedHat 6 and 7.2, I didn't anticipate that it might be some hardware issue. I jumpered my drive to master instead of cable select, did a complete disk wipe, recreated the master boot record, and voila! I have to question the version of Lilo that is being used here since the machine has not had problems with Lilo in the past. Is this some proprietary version, or an old one?

    Just want to confirm that I had the same problem and find out, that the HD was jumpered as slave. After putting the jumper to master, deleting the partitions manualy with fdisk, I could do a clean installation.
