SMPT-Proxy@domain rejected

I get these errors in my maillog of a cobalt rack 4i that is being used for a mail server.

I have tried to make a user of SMPT-Proxy on the mail server but I can not have anything but lower case names on the rack 4i.

I am not sure but I thing that this constant polling of qmail on the astaro firewall is causing my cpu usage to run in the high 70% range.

I have read the FAQ'S and searched through this mailing list for answers but have found nothing that solves the problem.  

thanks for your help and please excuse my ignorance of astaro security linux.

I like what I have done with it so far but am in the testing and debuging phases of using this product for a web server farm firewall

    what version do you use, i think this should be fixed in sun cobalt 2.019

    I beleive I did not describe my problem clearly.

    Astaro security linux is on a AMD K62 450 white box.  

    My mail server/web server is on a cobalt Raq4i.

    I get errors of CPU load too high from the Astaro firewall.

    I get errors in the maillog file on both the Cobalt Raq and the Astaro firewall.

    from Cobalt Raq:

    from Astaro firewall:

    I can not creat a user of SMPT-Proxy on the cobalt mail server since user names have to be lower case.

    My CPU load gets up to 50-90% on the Astaro firewall.

    running top on the astaro firewall I can see that the snmpd process is what is eating up all of the cpu time.

    hope this will clear my situation up some for you

    I am having the same problem with ASL 2.019 running on a PC.

    The CPU load is so high, the firewall is virtually unusable.

    Any solution yet ?

    Hi,

    Try this -

    Make sure SMTP proxy is disabled in ASL.

    From the command line (as root) go to /sbin/init.d
    Type in './qmail stop' (without the quotes).
    If it barks because a qmail lock file is found, 'rm -f /tmp/qmail_lock-file' (without the quotes).

    Type in './smtpd clean' (without the quotes).

    Type in './qmail start' (without the quotes).

    I had 1900 smtp unprocessed messages that were shutting down ASL after 3 minutes from boot. This seemed to fix the problem.

    I ran /sbin/init.d/qmail stop

    It found no /tmp/qmail_lock-file

    There was know "smtpd" file on the whole system

    There is a /sbin/init.d/snmpd, it has no clean parameter

    I just restarted /sbin/init.d/snmpd restart.

    I then ran /sbin/init.d/qmail start.

    At this time it seems to have fixed the problem.

    I will keep you posted over the next few days.

    Sorry,

    I was working on this late last night.

    It's the qmail command that has the 'clean' parameter, which seemed to resolve all the SMTP-proxy bounces after qmail was restarted.

    I understand about working late.  Your replies got me on the right track.  Thanks for your help
    all looks good this morning.  Will keep this topic posted on the outcome.  Have not done a reboot since I manualy reset qmail and snmpd yesterday.  Will do that this morning and monitor the results.

    Everything looks good today, CPU usage is 4.1% user 3.9% system.

    Access to admin pages is running smoothly.

    Looks like this problem is solved.
