Hardware vs. Performance

Astaro or someone,
  Do you have any stats or facts on hardware vs. performace for your product for the following.
What hardware paltform (CPU/RAM) will give you what performance?

1. Concurrent Connections (# of connections)
2. Firewall Throughput Performance (Mbps)
3. DES 56-Bit Throughput (Mbps)
4. 3DES 168-Bit Throughput (Mbps)
5. Number of VPN Tunnels

    The performance brief touches up on only on the following using the 750MHz Duron with 256MB RAM:

    Firewall Throughput Performance (Mbps) ~ 96Mbps
    3DES 168-Bit Throughput (Mbps) ~ 27.5Mbps

    What about the items below for the hardware config above?

    Concurrent Connections (# of connections)
    DES 56-Bit Throughput (Mbps)
    Number of VPN Tunnels


    Now, other Firewall/VPN products go well above 96Mbps on "Firewall Throughput Performance" and other stats.  For example a few stats on a few Sonicwall, Watchguard and NetScreen products:

    Sonicwall PRO 300
    - Concurrent Connections: 128,000
    - Firewall Performance: 190Mbps
    - 3DES 168-Bit Throughput: 45Mbps
    - Number of VPN Tunnels: 1000

    WatchGuard FireBox 1000
    - Concurrent Connections: ?
    - Firewall Performance: 185Mbps
    - 3DES 168-Bit Throughput: 55Mbps
    - Number of VPN Tunnels: ?

    NetScreen-100
    - Concurrent Connections: 128,000
    - Firewall Performance: 200Mbps
    - 3DES 168-Bit Throughput: 185Mbps
    - Number of VPN Tunnels: 1000


    So the question is this, how can we, if at all possible, with Astaro Security Linux achieve the same fast results?  What would happend to the stats if we were to say, go to 1GHz or higher and more memory?  Will this make that much difference?

    I would like to see some comparison charts with different hardware configurations and its performance results.

    What are your (or your customers reqirements.

    I have talked to Astaro users, who have tested ASL with Gigabit cards, and ASL achieved over 600Mbits. I dont know, how the other systems achieved more than 100 Mbit thruput, with 100 Mbit NICs.

    Do you require more than 64K concurrent connections that ASL can hold? For what type of application?
