Here's the snag. i get in as far as choosing my keyboard layout. Immediately after that, i am dropped to a bash prompt, with a pile of errors at the top of the screen, and a suggestion to type 'exit' to continue. Typing exit merely removes me from bash, but doesn't put me back in the install. i think that the install isn't figuring out my CDROM properly, and is crashing as a result. i get the following error messages:
(please, forgive slight inaccuracies of type - i'm not sitting at the workstation in question, and there's a lot of errors.)
===begin error messages - numbered for repetitions===
1) hdc: command error: status=0x51 { Driveready SeekComplete Error }
2) hdc: command error: status=0x54
4) repeat #1
5) repeat #2
6) end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 302640
7) repeat #1
8) repeat #2
9) repeat #6
10) repeat #1
11) repeat #2
12) repeat #6
===end error messages===
At this point it pops up the message that i am in a (b)ash shell, and to enter "exit" to continue installation. If i do this, nothing happens.
It should be noted that i can mount /dev/hdc as an iso9660 image manually, and the CDROM appears to be there. But the image may be corrupted. How can i test this under winXP?
Thanks in advance for the help
Chris
