Problem durring initial install

I installed the latest version available from the download site.
I opened the browser and ..
Changed the hostname
Added the name and ip for eth1
I was able to ping eth0 but not eth1 from my pc.
After 5 min the browser hangs and I cannot connect for a few min or ping the eth0. Then it comes back and I can connect via the browser.
