ReInstall

Hi, I had installed ASL 2.1 to try it some days and forget.
After 2 months, retrying, it's impossible to use.
Well, I still wish try it and begin a new installation on same pc, but after first splsh screen I always get the "Boot failure" message ?
Why? Help is appreciated.

Commen problem I think
It seems to depent on what kind of hardware you are using, I installed it on a kind of good machine and it gave a boot msg on an old junk machine it runs without problem

You can try to boot with a Debian cd ( or something like that ) and see on what partition there is a boot flag [:)]
I had non boot flags

I've repartioned my hd deleting all partions and MBR but problem is still there.

I have had a very odd issue where I installed ASL on the same machine with same HD over and over doing different test.. then 1 day when you install ASL and it does a list of #### sings.. it drops to a prompt and just list errors...

I replace the hard drive and it works great on the same machine... And nothing wrong with the hard drive that i took out ??

did your CD boot fail? Could be an corrupted/dirty disk...

No, boot from floppy.
On that pc "Boot failure" on another one, it's all OK.

It looks like syslinux version we used to produse the boot disk has a problem with old BIOSes. We'll update our syslinux for the next releases; for old ones I would suppose an BIOS update...
