tulip.o for dummies

I have several kingston KNE100tx network cards that use the DEC 21140 chip.  I have the 2.0 iso.  The system hangs on boot.  I have read about the compatibility problem.  However, I am a novice Linux user an I cannot begin to create the floppies required nor do I know how to do the copy process.  Is there any way to modify the 2.0 ISO such that the old tulip.o driver is used?  Or is there anyway that I can get an older distro?

    we are useing many nics from KTI with these DEC chips (now belonging to Intel  [;)] 
    Don't use tulip.o, use de45x.o (or something like this) instead. It works very well in our environment.

    Go to /etc/modules.conf and modify it something like "alias ethx de45x".

    BTW: you can use lspci to get more information about your nics.

    asl team: the known problems with DEC chips are related to the tulip.o driver. Is it possible to support DEC/Intel chips with de45x.o officialy?
