Install Problem

I have been trying to setup Astaro to evaluate it for a couple weeks now since it looks like it will be a great solution for us.

I have tried everything to get this up and running.  I've posted a number of times on the forums and have got a couple suggestions but nothing has worked.

I've tried the 2.0 and 2.1 ISO file and they both stop at the same point.

It seems to install fine.  I get to the point   of entering passwords.  I enter all the passwords and after I confirm the LILO password the cursor moves to the bottom of the screen and the system hangs.  I have tried fdisk /mbr on the drive, low level formating the drive to make sure the HD is clean but got no change.

The system is as follows:

PIII 800EB
ASUS CUSL2 w/ BIOS 1009A
512megs PC133 Ram
LG CD-ROM CRD-8521B (IDE)
Adaptec AHA-2940U2W
Quantum Atlas IV 18GIG LVD HD
3 * 3COM 3c905C-TX NICS

I have also tried only leaving on nic in,  Then I took out the SCSI controller and HD and put in a Maxtor 87000A8 7gig IDE drive.

No matter what config I used The system still stopped at the same point.

I hope someone can help me get going or else I will have to start looking for another solution   [:(]

    Hello,

    I had the same problem.
    The reason was I used a lilo password with special characters (=, [;)]lo does not support such characters.
    You could try a password with only alpha-numeric characters and it should be ok.
    If not try to boot using a rescue disk (Mandrake, ...), mount the emergency partition and run lilo manually (chroot /mnt lilo -r /emergency/boot) to create the mbr.
    It worked for me (this is the way I discovered my mistake ;-).

    I finaly figured that out on friday.  Just a last ditch effort.  I should have know better.  Thanks alot for the reply.
