I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

Hi all!!

I recently installed ASL 2.00 and somehow it appears something is wrong. I configured both NIC's, switched on the HTTP proxy and DNS proxy and reconfigured my Netscape browser. What happens is that no matter what packet filter rule I apply, ALL traffic passes through the ASL box. Only if I switch off the HTTP proxy, that traffic stops. What an I missing here ???

Routing info:

212.78.163.120 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.252 U eth1
10.3.140.64 10.31.134.193 255.255.255.224 UG eth0
10.31.134.192 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.224 U eth0
0.0.0.0 212.78.163.121 0.0.0.0 UG eth1

Masquerading switched on from Internal network to external network. No SNAT or DNAT applied.

Any suggestions ????

Do you mean the HTTP traffic or really ALL kinds of traffic (all protocols)? With a HTTP proxy on, all HTTP goes through, it's a feature...

Well, it seems all traffic is coming through, not only HTTP, but also, for instance, FTP. Now that you mention it, under FTP proxy I entered the same address/port as the HTTP proxy. Maybe that's it ???? [:S]

Well, it seems all traffic is coming through, not only HTTP, but also, for instance, FTP. Now that you mention it, under FTP proxy I entered the same address/port as the HTTP proxy. Maybe that's it ???? [:S]

An application that has options to enter proxy setting, use those setting to communicate even though the real port are close at the firewall. Internet Explorer or Netscape for instance does that and so many others !
