Installation

Hello,

I am trying to install Astaro into a PIII 800 w/ 512 megs ram.  This system also has an 18gig SCSI LVD Hard Drive.

I am trying to install v2.1.

I can boot fine off the cd and the install seems to work up until the point of entering passwords. I enter all the passwords fine but right after I finish entering the password for the admin account the install stops.

If I reboot the system I get the Redhat Linux boot menu (RH 7.1 was on the system before) so it seems that Astaro was not installed into the MBR.

Any ideas how I can get the install to finish or even try to find out what's going on?

    Hi Serge,

    first of all, questions/discussions regarding v2.1 should be posted in the ASL Hackers/BETA Version forum.

    Secondly, I have had the same thing happen to me with 1.9beta and 2.0 release.
    I don't really know what happened, but I suspect I was a bit sloppy as I was bored typing all those passwords..
    Try installing again, and make sure you hit enter clean and nice on the last password entry.

    Its not much of an answer, but it's been working for me.

    try the following:

    if you have an old DOS boot disk, boot with it and make a "fdisk /mbr" w/o the quotes.

    I think this would help.

    Sorry for posting in the wrong area guess I just wan't thinking.

    I ran fisk /mbr and when I enter the passwords hit "Enter" firm and long on every password.

    Still the same thing after entering the last password the system just goes into never never land?!
