How to transition from 1.8 to 2.0 with new NICs replacing tulips?

After reviewing the many tulip discussions on the board, I conclude that tulips are bad for 2.0.

Could someone post a procedure for doing the transition from (1.8 with tulips) to (2.0 with new NICs replacing the tulips)?

I'd like to preserve my existing config as much as possible and just associate the new NICs with the old interface names, but I'm not sure how to find out which is which.

Any help would be appreciated. I have two identical LNE100s that are using the tulip driver, and one other card, with an outside NIC, an inside NIC, and a DMZ NIC.

hi eraserhead,

with a little linux experience, you can make the transition by upgrading to 2.0 via Up2Date first, and then using the method described here:
http://docs.astaro.org/hacking/tulip.txt

Second method would be a clean reinstall of 2.0 on a machine with new NICs and to import the 1.8 backup ...
