Confirmation of Compatibility

Hi,

I'm just about to buy a load of servers, one being my firewall. Can you Astaro guys take a look at the spec, and let me know if ASL is 100% compatible?

A.SERV 1U-A1200 RACK SERVER (DUAL CPU/SCSI)
· Dual (2x) AMD Athlon MP 1.2GHz CPU
· 384K Integrated L2 Cache
· AMD 3DNow Professional and SmartMP Technology
· Tyan Dual Athlon MP Motherboard
· 1GB PC2100 DDR ECC Registered Memory, Max 3GB (2 x 512MB DIMMs/4 DIMM Sockets)
· 2 x 36GB Ultra 160 SCSI Hard Drive (10,000 RPM)
· Adaptec Ultra 160 SCSI Controller
· Slim 24X IDE CD-ROM Drive
· Integrated Ultra ATA/100 IDE HD Controller
· 4 x Intel 82559 10/100 Fast Ethernet Network Adapter


I'm a little concerned with the NIC's - they apparently are modified (the company said patented) 1U cards. If you require more information then check out http://einux.com 

If it checks out, i'm buying an umlimited version of ASL - all my trials on regular hardware has impressed many people. [:)]

    Symetric Multiprocessor support is not yet
    implemented, but i will be available - please
    do not ask for the actual date. (you'll get it via up2date :-) )
    Two harddrives are not nescessary since you
    do not want to setup a RAID system. Please note,
    Adaptec RAID is not supported at the moment.

    4 x Intel 82559 10/100 Fast Ethernet Network Adapter

    If it is the reported Intel chipset
    it should work.

    Hi Oliver,

    Thanks for the reply. As for SMP, if it's going to be included at some time in the future - then thats great - I guess by the time i need the extra horsepower support will be in. I wanted the second hard disk as a storage facility for log files (i'll manually copy then over every so ofen - no worries.
