Lots of trouble

I having been recommending this product to all my customers until now.  I cannot even get the new 2.0 version to install on machines that are running the older version due to the tulip driver issue.  Also had the issue with updating the 1.9 series and then the server not booting again.  On top of that, we have several customers that use ADSL and DHCP.  It's hard to believe that a completely free product like Mandrake Security has both of these working flawlessly.  Perhaps you should copy their source code and use it in your product.  For now, I am using Mandrake Security at home and will NOT recommend your product until these major issues get resolved.

    Altough I would like to see PPPoE in the ASL to let a friend who has ADSL try it, I really can't say that the Mandrake SNF connect FLAWLESS.... I already tried it and IT can't connect to my ISP or, better, it can connect but I'm not able to route packets from it to the internal net; and the mandrake expert thing is LOOOOOONG way from being helpful like this BB system in ASL. (even if I stil lhave a Q of mine with 0 replies )  [;)]

    So ASL guys: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

    well the only real issue for us is the tulip one.

    We upgraded the driver in order to support more modern 4-port cards. However, we did not expect such a mess with standard NICs. We are sorry for that, especially sorry for the now broken 1.9xx beta installations.

    It is not easy to fix this, since the older driver does not support some of the newer cards we need for our coporate partners.

    I have already put up the old tulip.o driver on http://docs.astaro.org/hacking/  and I will write a short HOWTO on how to repair broken 1.9xx installations (for the experienced: use a Slackware Boot/Root disk set and replace the module in the root filesystem).

    As for ADSL/PPoE/DHCPc: we are working on it.

    Any idea on an eta for the HOWTO to replace the tulip driver in broken 1.9x installations ?

    BTW, the same thing appears to be broken in ASL 2.0   [:(]
