I've taken the *.dat files in the install directory of the CDROM image to populate a mounted harddrive. This was the only way for me to install Astaro on my hardware since the QLOGIC scsi drive would wedge my Penguin Relion 220.
Using a Redhat 7.1 partition, I build my own kernel w/o QLOGIC support, with MegaRaid and AIC7xxx, and with an added extra (for me), the acenic.o network driver for the 3com 3c985 gige card. Putting this onto my volume solves the problem of booting up ASL 2.0, but alas I do not have all the custom configs of a successful install nor do I have IPSec available.
In a nutshell, since the kernel packages for ASL are not available to me (????), I was hoping Astaro could generate an alternative ISO image w/o the suspect QLOGIC driver, and preferrably with acenic. This would allow it to work on many 1U units with the ServerWorks chipset since the onboard SCSI is mistakenly taken to be QLOGIC by ASL's kernel. If an iso image is too much, a rebuild of the kernel would be the next best thing.
If anyone else on the list knows some hints to addressing this "supported" hardware on ASL's hardware list, I'd love to hear it (I added the quotes since the acenic IS a 3com card [:)]).
