Problems with 1.950 Installation

I have a Pentium 200 with 128mb ram and a 2.5gb Drive - I currently have 1.8 on it and it works a dream. I wanted to upgrade to 1.950 so I have downloaded the CD and all is good...

When I attempt to install the cd, I pick my keyboard type, It them drops me to a bash shell and basically says "this is a bash shell, type 'exit' to continiue installation"... ofcourse I type exit, and the thing just sits there ...

any ideas ???

    which keyboard did you select?

    I picked the first keyboard in the list, which from memory is the US International.

    I have 3 NICS in the machine, 2x Intel eepro100's and a VIA Rhine... all work a treat under 1.8.

    damn thing just sits there and does nothing ... what a pain in the arse ...

    does this help???

    More Information....

    I have a little more information now ...

    If I do the install with any other keyboard type im fine, as SOON as I use the US (options1) i get dumped to the bash shell of death.

    I dug around and found this in the /tmp/install.log file

    so it would be a safe call thats the problem... in the /tmp/install.tmp file I have only..

    I have tried to install with a 1.940 and a 1.930 cd also and I get drive reset errors and crap after I pick the keyboard ... not sure what drugs my machine is on there...


    I decided to give in on this and do a up2date on my 1.8 install... it downloaded all the patches and stuff... and was going for its life (im on a modem link)  [:(]

    Once it had got them, in the up2date window I got a message something like "you really shouldnt be here" "error"... machine continued to work ... until I lost power to my rack ... then lilo was corrupt so ive just completed a NEW 1.8 build ... I dont know ... I guess this stuff just inst for me  [;)]nt.

    If anyone has any ideas on the 1.950 install stuff id be intrested - 2.0 is out soon it seems tho....  [:)]
