Network Cards not found

I have read many times ASL should work with most PCI ethernet cards (I'm using two 3COM NICs too w/o any problem); maybe someone from the astaro crew will check this out to see if you have hit a bug.

Actually that was my hope here too. I read a big part of the board and it SHOULD work, yet it seems the software is unable to find my network cards  [:(]

Too bad it looks like a really good proudct but it seems I have to fiddle around a bit more with IP chains for now....

SuSE 7.0 identified them as 95xx..... Unfortunatly they don't have a type printed on the board but they ARE full blown 3com cards.

The reason why I actually put the PCI IDs in was because I saw a request from one of your guys before and figured you should know if you support that id or not  [:)]

for me as a non 3COM employee (don't know the internal id's):

What is the official brand of your cards (like 3C905x) ?
Are they PCI or ISA ?

I am using different 3COM cards, and all of them work perfect and were detected without any problem.

Sorry Michael,

i took a look at the 3COM catalogue, but i didn't saw NICs starting with '3C95x' or anything similar.
I'm also wondering that they are not labeled.
Normally all 3COM cards have a small label on the front or backside (differs from model to model).

Sorry, i don't know what type of cards that should be.

Maybe the Astaro guys or another member knows where you can see the translation between Manufacturer ID and Type/Model name.

it seems to be a 3C450... To Michael: which module does your SuSE use with the card ? (I assume it's 3c59x.o), an does it work well? If it's true, I'll include it into the next release.

Hi Dennis,

yes, you're right that's the module it loaded.

And so far no complains, the only problem I have is that telnet hangs for a couple of seconds before I get my login prompt, but I am not sure that this is not on purpose as I hardened the whole thing...

About telnet delay (you probably mean ssh  [;)]

Nope, right now it's telnet, I didn't had a chance to compile SSH yet,but it only work on the internal interface  [;)]

the DNS shouldn't be a problem as the server has a hostfile that should resolve right away  [:)]
