"too many SCSI drivers" install message

Hello all

I was trying to install ASTARO on an HP Netserver with Symbios LVD bichannel SCSI controller and 4 18Gig disks. The installer informed me that my system would require "too many SCSI drivers"... and kicked me out !

What should i do ? I already tried to
deactivate the unused channel, and same old song....

Hello,

you probably have several SCSI cards that need separate driver modules. Try to remove that ones you don't need...

Ok I only have on boards SCSI modules
in that machine for now. SYMBIOS
2-channel controller, with 4 disks on
the first channel. How do i force installation ?

hello

if you don't need all three disks try the following:

in system bios you can disable the second SCSI chanel. remove the data & power cable from the first three disks. the last disk remaining MUST be terminated.

I tried to deactivate channel B in Symbios
SCSI BIOS. I removed three disks from
the SCSI chain. There is only one disk (ID 0), one processor (ID 5) and one active channel. ASL keeps telling me there are "too many SCSI devices".....
I'm hopeless :-(( Any ideas ?

It's very strange... Could you do following and post the result:

- start installation
- type "bash please" instead of the first "yes"
- issue 'ls -1 /proc/scsi/'

really strange!
it sounds like that the scsi-bus is not terminated. please have a look at this behavior, it's verry important for the scsi-bus.

Thanx for the "bash please" trick (was it in the doc ?? :-) ). The output of /proc/scsi is

Seems like the Symbios controller is found
double time... What do you think about it ?

thanks for your report, I know the problem now: there are 2 drivers for your SCSI adapter loaded. Unfortunately I can't promise you to solve this problem quickly, but I'll try my best...

problem is unfortunately still here.
