How to install?

Here's my situation.

1. Downloaded the .iso file
2. Burned the cd
3. My system will not boot from CDROM
4. Tried to create boot disk with little success.
5. How do i create a boot disk to install this software?  I have read the documentation but this does not help.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Norma,

    you read the Installation Guide?
    Which OS are you using to create the bootdisk? Where does the error occur, and what does it say?

    Under MSDOS, you insert the cdrom, enter the \dosutil directory on the cd and execute rawrite.exe with D:\boot\bdisk as parameter (insert correct letter for your cdrom drive). This will create the bootdisk.

    Under Linux, mount the cd, then execute
    dd if=//boot/bdisk of=/dev/fd0 bs=8k ;you might need to be root to do that.

    I read the guide. I am using the Linux RH7.1 OS and win2k.

    I don't have the \dosutils folder because all I have is the .iso file.  Do I need to open this file up?  I already uncompressed it.

    Where can I get the \dosutils folder?

    hy noma,

    did you burned the .iso files 'as is' ??

    you need to know, that this is a special file type which should be known by your favourite burn programm.
    when you tell the prog to burn an .iso file it will re-create the file system, so you can access it
    (similar to .zip files).

    and try it again.

    Yeah, I unzipped it and burned the .iso file.  I have an HP cd-writer 8200. I even tried this cd on a known cd bootable machine and it did not work.  How could I correct this?  By the way, the hp burner is not very flexible.

    you will need burning software that lets you "burn CD from image file".  i personaly use adaptec 4.02 for burning ISO files and that is the option i select.

    when you put the cd in your drive and look in look at the contents.  if all you see is a ISO file and not a complete listing of directories then you will need to find the "burn CD from image file" and reburn the cd.

    another piece of software you could look at is fire burner( http://www.fireburner.com  ).  it lets you add ISO files to a listing and then burn them.  i use fireburner at work.

    hope all of this babbling is helpful.

    Your help is much appreciated.  Can you give me a quick overview of fireburner?  How do you use it?  I don't think I am using it correctly.

    Can this burning be done with a HP CDwriter 8200? If so can someone give me a 1,2,3.
