hardware install question

Why do you require a 1.5GB HD for installation when the ISO is only 50 megs?????!?!?!

I only have a spare 1.2GB drive, and the installer rejects it because it is "too small".

Anyway around this issue????

    There are several reasons for this... Although to some extent they maybe should not be so tight...

    Firstly, remember that the 50 MBytes downloaded is compressed, but that only takes things to 100 MBytes. The rest of the space is used for 
       * HTTP Proxy
       * Logs - so that they do not get deleted in case of problems
       * SMTP Proxy and virus check (internally, 20 MByte files are common)

    Having 125 MBytes on the root partition is probably a bit of overkill, but this space is also used by a lot of chroot environments.

    BUT - There is no way around the install.. All you can hope is to install on another HDD, and somehow move it onto the smaller HDD, or find another HDD. I had the same issue, and found two 1.5+ GByte HDD's lying around the house
