Web Protection - Bypass specific category

Hi

We use one Default Profile to block/allow categories. Now a specific user group needs access to a specific blocked category.

The users should have the possibility to bypass the blocking by user authentication.

How do I implement that for only one specific category without affecting other blocked categories? If I use "Bypass user" then it is for all categories not only one.

  • There's no such option as selective bypass. Your best bet is to create an exception for those users/groups to access the desired category. The access will be logged anyway, so I think you should be good.

  • Do you have an authentication method configured on your default profile?   If so, then you just create a second policy to define the group's allowed and a secondfilter action to define the functions allowed.

If you are unable or unwilling to do authentication, then you can use two filter profiles, with the special users configured on static IPs.

  • Hi and welcome to the UTM Community!

You might be interested in a document I maintain that I make available to members of the UTM Community, "Configure HTTP Proxy for a Network of Guests."  If you would like me to send you this document, PM me your email address.  Ich behaupte auch eine deutsche Version, die ursprünglich vom Mitglieder hallowach übersetzt wurde, als wir zusammen im Jahre 2013 eine große Revision machten.
