IPSec VPN to Cisco 887 Using Hostnames

Hi,

I have successfully implemented an IPSec VPN between a Cisco 887 and an SG210, however, this is just by IP.

When I try to set up this VPN using hostnames, the whole thing crashes.

Our situation is that the external IP on our UTM will be changing a couple of times and we have 200 cisco 887s to program for VPNs, we don't want to have to reprogram 200 887s every time the IP changes so we have decided to use DNS hostnames so that the IP only needs to be changed once on the hosting provider.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and can assist?

  • Hi, Harry, and welcome to the UTM Community!

This should work.  Have you followed The Zeroeth Rule in Rulz?

Show us pictures of the Edits of the IPsec Connection, Remote Gateway and IPsec Policy.  Disable the IPsec Policy, start the IPsec Live Log, after a few lines post to the Live Log, enable the IPsec Connection.  Show us the log lines from the enable to the error.

    Cheers - Bob
