Second box in HA

I have an SG330 configured with LACP - when I am adding my 2. box (new) , do I just have to configure to ports on the switch exactly the same on box 1 and 2? Including the port trunking?

I guess that the two boxes should not go to the same port trunk, but rather have two seperate port trunks (but configured with the same VLANs)

And then it is just plugging in a crossover cable in the HA ports and you are ready to go?

Regards, Lars.

  • Hi Lars,

Yepp, the original configuration is copied to the slave box during the ha initialization. All ports should be treated like the corresponding ports on the first appliance. You have to configure a new trunk like the other to box1.

    Make sure that:

    - it is the same hardware (appliance type)

    - it is the same software version (if its slightly older, the the updates should be applied in the ha synchronisation, but i prefer the exact same version)

    - it is a fresh installed slave (if the 30 day trial is expired, the ha process won't start)

    - do never reboot the original appliance during the first sync. The higher uptime wins, the lower uptime appliance will be overwritten.

    Good luck!
