Downgrading version from 9.501-5 to 9.414-2

Dear colleagues,

Yesterday I updated my UTM (SG210) to the new version, but today i'm having some problem (including Skype that didn't work).

Is it possible to downgrade the version?

Thank you.

  • Hey Fabio.

It's possible. Not an easy task as a click of a button, though.

First, make sure you have a configuration backup taken from 9.414-2, as the only way to roll back is to reimage your device with a previous ISO and restore the configuration. You cannot restore a configuration from 9.501-5 into 9.414-2 though, so you'll need a previous backup. You surely have one that was taken automatically before the last upgrade, so download it (non-encrypted) from webadmin and store it. Keep in mind that by doing this all logs and reports will be lost, as the configuration backup does not include those facilities.

Then follow this guide on how to reimage your device. If you don't have an USB CD-ROM around (who does, right?), follow this guide on how to install from a USB stick.

To restore the configuration backup simply put the file in the root of a USB stick and boot your device while it's plugged in. It should restore the file automatically during the O.S. load, as long as it's not encrypted.

    Hope it helps.
