IPv6 Setup -- fe80 gateway assignment and NAT?

Ok I've been working with IPv6 on the UTM....  It now passes all of the tests, but it shows my UTM external WAN address as my IPv6 address when I go to test-ipv6.com or ipv6-test.com -- it doesn't show my computer's address.

On my computer, it shows that an IPv6 address in the proper prefix has been assigned, as well as a temporary IPv6; however, for the gatway it shows an fe80:: address.

For settings, I have: Interfaces / Interfaces / External (WAN) - Dynamic IPV6 and IPV6 Gateway Checked.

----  Internal: Dynamic UNchecked, a IPv6 2600....::1 assigned as the IPV6 address, a netmask of 64, and IPv6 Default GW UNchecked.

Under Interfaces / IPv6 / Prefix advertising I have Internal selected, 2600.....::1 as DNS server 1, and Managed (stateful) Checked, all other UNchecked.

Under Network Svcs / DHCP I have Interface Internal, address type IPv6, Range start at 2600....::f000, Range end at 2600.....::ffff and DNS server as 2600....::1

Like I said, I can access IPv6 sites, but its not correct in that its using my external (WAN) address as my computers address (like a nat), any suggestions?

Note from my ISP I have a DHCP-PD address with a /64 space.

  • I bet you have web filtering on and in your allowed networks you have your internal network with ipv4 & ipv6 allowed.

Try and disable web filtering and try. If this helps, remove the the ipv6 network from web filtering and just leave the ipv4 subnets in there.

I'm not sure how to get ipv6 to work with the web proxy

  • Thanks for the response!

That wasn't the problem, but a set fresh of eyes allowed me to find it :).  The default configuration included a masqureading rule internal -> external.  When I changed that to Internet ip4 -> external that seemed to do the trick.

    Thanks!
