How to block Amazonaws.com ?

Hello

Since few days, i still have a connexion with amazonaws.com with bandwith usage average of 200 KB/s.

i can see it from Flow Monitor : ec2-52-27-241-144.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com | tcp/80

Since this morning, the amount of bandwith usage is at 9 Gb and it's only 10 AM in France.

i created an application control rule that block Amazon Web Services but it didn't work.

Also I created a firewall rule that block this ip adress (52-27-241-144) but it didn't work.

How can i block this trafic ?

Does someone have this issue ?

Greetings.

Cédric

  • Salut Cédric, and welcome to the UTM Community!

This is almost certainly a device in your network downloading things from Amazon.  The IP probably changes constantly, so it's no surprise that your firewall rule was ineffective.  Look on the 'Bandwidth Usage' tab in 'Reporting >> Network Usage'.  What user/IP uses that much HTTP traffic?

I suspect that this is a question about configuring Web Protection, so we might move this thread there depending on how this evolves.
