All I want for 2017 is...... UTM GRE Tunnel

Dear Sophos,

I've been a good boy all year round and all I want for 2017 is the ability to do GRE tunnels. I understand that it's in the Copernicus but please, please put it in the UTM.

We really are getting along with the UTM nicely (4x SG310's) and when the licenses expire in 2019 will probably refresh/upgrade the hardware again. The lack of a GRE ability might be a show stopper though and may even force us to move off the UTM platform back to Cisco which would be a shame.
I'm going to be forced to provide a GRE at some stage this year and my preference would be to put it through the UTM so please put it in there. The feature requests for it are quite high so I'm obviously not the only one looking for this.

The UTM's have been an excellent replacement for our Cisco 5510's & untangle and we'd love to keep it that way.

  • Louis, we had this discussion two months ago - did you try the command line solution?

    I admit that I had only one customer that wanted GRE.  It turned out that the regional technician from AT&T wasn't very well versed, so we escalated the case and got a lady engineer that told him what to do so that GRE wasn't needed.

    Hi Bob,

    no not yet as it isn't required at this time. I will have to get one up and running within the next 5 months for sure.

    Hence my sort of begging for the feature..... in the hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears. I'll have to test it out first somewhere because the GRE tunnel that is needed is a very critical part of the network for us which is currently running on a clustered Cisco 5510
