Sophos UTM DR

Hi,

I have been task with sorting out our DR. I have been working with a Sophos reseller in implementing this are just wanted to ask you for your opinion.

Site A

2 x Vmware Host server

1 x UTM SG310

Site B

1 x Vmware Host Server

1 x UTM SG310

We are currently using Veeam replication to replicate VM’s from site A to site B.

I have two questions;

First Question

In the event of a complete disaster at site A, I want to restore the config on the UTM at site B. I was wondering if this is do able? Or what do you do?

Second Question

We have 8 remote sites all connected via RED15’s. The main UTM hostname is pointing to site A and I want to be able to point the RED15 2nd failover to site B again incase of complete disaster at site A.

Thanks

Mike

  • 1. yes, you can import the config to the sahe type of hardware and it is running.

    - but if you realize a link between SiteA and SiteB you can connect booth devices and build an HA system

    2. dont know REd15 but with RED50 the Backup-link can point to a second site and RED use this link if Site a is unreachable.

you should configure ISP-siteA on one interface and ISP at siteB to another at the UTM and shut down this IF.

  • /friendlygripe Guys, a fundamental rule here is "one topic per thread."

The second question should have been asked in the RED forum, not in General Discussion.

The reason for these rules is to make it easier for others to find answers in the future. /friendlygripe
